With the drop in temperatures in the North and a rise in temperatures in the South over the past week- clearly temperature is on our mind! How does temperature influence your wine and what you can do about it? So maybe you have heard the general rule: “white should be served chilled and red at room temperature.” This is good to know yes. . . But, if you are living by this rule, chances are you are not getting the full potential your wine has to offer. . . (what does "room temperature" mean anyway?) In order to maximize aroma and flavour, wines should be served cool (yes, reds too). Every style has its perfect temperature. Too cold and all flavour could be lost (can anyone say alcohol flavoured water), too warm and you will be left with alcohol and jaminess and also looking for the closest spittoon. That's pretty "cool", but now what. . .
